Flyers vs Maple Leafs
The Philadelphia Flyers look to continue their recent success against the Atlantic division as they head into the ACC to face off with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
The Flyers look for their 12th win in their last 17 tries against foes from the Atlantic division but they will be in tough against a Maple Leafs team that is off to a fast start but is coming off a tough 6-3 loss at home against the Carolina Hurricanes. Philly is off to an impressive start as well and are hoping a trip into Toronto will be the platform they are looking for to emerge as one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference, but their road woes dating back to last season have been well documented.
The Flyers are expected to go back to Brian Elliott in this spot as he will face off against Frederik Andersen in what is expected to be a high scoring affair as indicated by the 6.5 goal line for the total.
The Leafs meanwhile continue to be a tough team to sort out as they have a ton of talent in the offensive zone and have laid waste to some of the league’s top teams but with two losses at home coming against the Hurricanes and Devils it is interesting to see how they fair against teams they are big favourites against. Toronto is a pretty decent home favourite once again in this spot and you can bet Claude Giroux and company will be out for a statement victory as their last five games against Eastern Conference foes has gone over the total, including their last game in Ottawa which had a combined nine markers.
The Flyers are 5-0 in their last five Saturday games and 8-24 in their last 32 road games while the Leafs are 7-1 in their last eight following a loss of three goals or more and 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. The Flyers are a different team at home then on the road and this one doesn’t bode well for them as Toronto rebounds after their loss to Carolina with a home win tonight.
